Frequently asked questions
Choosing a Photograph for Your Home or Workplace
You’ve found an image that you think will be right for your home (or studio, office, etc.) It should feel at home in your space and continue to hold your attention over time. How Do I Choose?
Connect your computer to the largest television or monitor available. Viewing the image at a larger scale will give you a better sense of how it may feel in your space. The color on your monitor will not look exactly like the printed image since the monitor is projecting light through the image and the finished images will be viewed in reflected light. What Size Will Work Best?
Please send me a photograph of the space where you’d like to display the photograph. Please include a measurement of the wall or piece of furniture, and I will provide a scaled simulation of the picture in your home.Standard and custom sizes are available. The original proportions of the photograph are maintained. In some cases, a custom composition may be created from a larger image, i.e., when a panoramic format is desired. Are the Photographs Limited Editions?
Photographs measuring 48 inches or greater in any dimension are limited to editions of eight. Please contact me to ask about edition availability. How Are the Photographs Produced?
Each image is printed at high resolution (1200 dots per inch, DPI) on metallic photographic paper and face-mounted to non-glare optical acrylic. The image is then back-mounted with an additional piece of acrylic. This construction carries a lifetime warranty against separation and helps protect the print from ultraviolet light, moisture, and physical damage. This process enhances the depth, clarity, color, and luminosity of the photograph. The backing includes a floating mount, allowing the photograph to project slightly from the wall. Will the Colors Last?
The color fastness of the photographs is rated at up to 120 years under appropriate indoor display conditions (avoiding direct sunlight and fluorescent lighting). If cleaning becomes necessary, gently use a clean microfiber cloth and an acrylic cleaner such as Novus. Household glass cleaners, paper towels, and abrasive materials should never be used. How Is the Artwork Installed?
A floating mount attached to the backing allows the photograph to hang securely while appearing to project slightly. How to Best Display the Photograph?
Adjustable LED picture lights or ceiling-mounted spotlights are usually the best choices because they can be directed toward the image and produce very little heat. A 30° downward angle is recommended to reduce reflections, and I suggest a 4000K LED bulb to approximate daylight. Avoid direct sunlight, fluorescent lighting, and fixtures that produce excessive heat. How Long Will My Order Take?
Each photograph is custom printed, mounted, inspected, and orders generally arrive in approximately 30 days. Rush orders are available, and additional charges will be quoted. Shipping, insurance, and applicable taxes are included for delivery in the United States. Very large or custom-sized works may require additional time. Can I Receive Help Choosing?
I am happy to discuss the image, size, lighting, placement, and atmosphere you would like to create.Studio viewings and in-person consultations may be arranged in the Santa Fe area.Interior designers, architects, art consultants, and other trade professionals are also welcome to inquire about project assistance. Are the Photographs Suitable for Commercial Spaces?
Yes. Custom sizes, groupings, and project pricing are available for offices, healthcare settings, hotels, and other commercial spaces.
